One of our faculty members, Aybüke Öğretmen, held a conference on "Qur'anic Awareness" at the Aybüke Teacher Girls' Dormitory

Believers need a new way of reading the Qur'an that focuses on its purposes and deeper meanings. This is because while the divine text revives people, the same text can also be used to harm them by "strangling them from behind" with its literal interpretations.

For a healthy understanding and interpretation, there is no need to rediscover the world. As the saying goes, "A hero gets up from where he falls," this ummah, just as it revived and built the Qur'an in its early period, can also achieve results when the Qur'an is placed at the center of life.

The greatest legacy left by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the Qur'an, and the "best" and "most virtuous" service that his ummah can offer is to engage deeply with the Qur'an..

There is a strong connection between reading the Qur'an and acting upon it. Why is the Qur'an read? The answer is to bring it into life.

When the aspect of adding meaning to life is overlooked, the focus shifts to the literal words. In other words, the meaning that cannot be generated diminishes and is neglected. As a result, to cover up the gap in meaning, the literal words are elevated. The elevated words then become a matter of emotion, not understanding. The words that are matters of emotion become objectified and are easily pushed outside of life. Consequently, revelation loses its role as the subject that builds life. The way to place the Qur'an back at the center of life is to capture the unity of words and meaning..

Since revelation was sent for humanity, the essence is the human being. That is, human beings are more valuable than religion. If humanity did not exist, books, prophets, and religion would not have been sent. These things owe their existence to the creation of humanity. When this is reversed, life becomes unlivable. In that case, humans are sacrificed. However, everything should be sacrificed for humanity.
