Our faculty members are grafting wild trees on campus

Asisst. Prof. Ümit Koca and Res. Assist. Abdullah Recep Koyuncu have carried out grafting work on the wild trees surrounding the faculty building, aiming to make them capable of bearing fruit.

Last year, our faculty members conducted a trial on a single tree, and after achieving successful results, they decided to graft two mulberry and two apricot trees this year. They stated that this work is carried out purely out of curiosity and as a hobby, and expressed that seeing the wild saplings bear fruit and knowing that everyone can benefit from these fruits would bring them great joy..

Our faculty members added that during the grafting process, they consulted with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Gürbüz from the Faculty of Agriculture and obtained the necessary permissions. They also stated that if the grafting proves successful, they plan to continue similar efforts in the coming years on other wild trees they have identified across the campus..
